Department of Accountancy

Welcome to the Department of Accountancy, where we provide quality education by offering high quality knowledge through competence based teaching methodology with the view of being the leading department by providing technical and current education through our teaching and practical training.

The department is build up with skilled and experienced academic staffs trained to provide technical education in the field of accountancy to the students, as well as collaboration with the surrounding community by utilizing available core resources through fieldwork and seminars related to the courses.

Summary of the Programmes offered:

A. Overview

The course is designed specifically for students aspiring to work as professional accountants, independent consultants, academicians, administrative officers etc. It is our expectations that graduates of this programme will be able to work in multi environment with ability to respond to global pressures.

B. List of Programmes:

1 Basic Technician Certificate in Accountancy (BTCA) NTA Level 4
2 Technician Certificate in Accountancy (TCA ) NTA Level 5
3 Ordinary Diploma in Accountancy (ODA ) NTA Level 6

 C. Objectives of the Programmes:

These programmes are designed to meet the needs of learners who wish to exit for job or progress to higher qualification levels. The programmes intend for a person who will perform routine accounting and financial duties, communicate properly and apply basic computer knowledge in accounting duties to all commercial and non-commercial ventures  

D. Entry requirements:

  1. ACCOUNTANCY NTA LEVEL 4
    • Possession of at least four (4) “D” passes including passes in Basic Mathematics in the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination.
      OR
    • Possession of a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE)  with at least two passes and the National Vocational Award (NVA) Level III (Trade Test Grade I) in a relevant field.
  2. ACCOUNTANCY NTA LEVEL 5 & 6
    • Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with four (4) “D” passes including mathematics in non-religious subjects AND Basic Technician Certificate in Accountancy with 2.0 GPA and above.
    • Holders of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least one principal pass and subsidiary.
    • Possession of the National Technical Award (NVA) Level 5 in accountancy or a related field.
